Emét (Emmét McGonagle) is an Irish indie-folk musician with influences ranging from Hozier and Big Thief to Mitski and Phoebe Bridgers. Following the release of their debut EP Cheers & All the Best in March 2021, the Derry native moved from Ireland to Calgary where they released Carlin’s Farm on 8 April 2022 (digital distribution handled by AntiFragile Music). The album explores themes of complacency, carnage and catharsis in rural Ireland and includes singles Hate To See It, The Chelsea Hotel Is Closed Until Further Notice and Sticky Floor Serenade, alongside Emét’s 2020 debut single JJ Johnston and title track Carlin’s Farm. "Carlin’s Farm is a deliciously funny, poignant and occasionally melancholy collection of folk songs. Emét’s music can recall both the muted beauty of doomed British folkie Nick Drake and the chamber-folk of the Fleet Foxes. But there is nary a twang to be heard." - Calgary Herald "A skilled songwriter with an eye for the playful masking more serious issues and an ear for an unfussy but engaging melody, Carlin’s Farm is a slow burning but impressive debut that promises a very bright future" - folking.com"Emét’s folk sound is honest and candid, familiar and refreshing: reminiscent of Hozier and Vance Joy’s debut records, Carlin’s Farm carries the folk torch forward while honoring those who came before" - Atwood Magazine “They’re making some fabulous tunes right now and you should definitely check them out” - Kennady Quille, KEXP "A burgeoning LGBTQ star" - Diane Anderson-Minshall, CEO and editorial director Pride Media Inc
